Kenyan Visitors A Hit!
Wednesday, 22nd April, 2009
At the end of term staff and pupils alike were sad to say goodbye to our visitors from Senior Chief Mwangeka School in Kenya.
For ten days Madam Were, Holliness, Dorcas and Shallet enjoyed experiencing British lessons, packed lunches, school trips, extra curricular sport and shopping, as well as entertaining us with traditional Kenyan songs, dance and stories.
This exchange of pupils is the first of what we hope will be many. The cultural experiences our visitors gained has allowed them to view the world with a global perspective. Hopefully they will be able to share these experiences with their own school and country on their return.
The highlight of the trip for our visitors was the shopping trip to Norwich and playing in the waves at Southwold, not quite like the beach in Mombassa, as Holliness commented, “where are the camels and palm trees?”
Our pupils relished the opportunity to share their lessons and homes with our guests. It has allowed pupils to increase their understanding of the wider world and to become better global citizens.
Special thanks go to our host families; Mr & Mrs Penn, Mrs Smith and Mr & Mrs Bellamy, who opened their homes and provided first class care and accommodation.
