Summer Showcase Concert 10th July 2009

The main hall of the College was packed to capacity on the evening of Friday 10th July to celebrate and enjoy a feast of musical talent. Over 70 students took part in the event including pupils from our feeder Primary schools to perform music from a wide range of styles and genres.
Musical groups to feature included the Stradbroke Pyramid Brass Band, the string ensemble, brass ensemble, junior vocals, Year 10 vocal group and the recently formed orchestra conducted by new Head of Music, Jonathan Williams.
Soloists who wowed the audience included Heidi Smith, Casey Rawlings, Sam Newson, Tilly Heydon, Jack James, Elliott Ball, Lucy Eastoe, Jack Stevens, Ryan Apps, Laura Robson and Cheryl Gibson. They all performed with both sensitivity and real musicality.
A superb guest appearance from the band ‘Walkway’ and the return of the ‘staff’ band led to the culmination of the evening and a performance of ‘The Summer of ‘69’ by Brian Adams and a rousing Abba medley by the pupils. Thank you to all the students and staff who made this evening such a success.
