Subsidy Fund

Tuesday, 20th October, 2009

The Governing Body is extremely concerned about any pupil who may be prevented from experiencing some of the activities provided by the school due to some families experiencing genuine hardship. We have been notified of an ‘Extended Services Disadvantage Subsidy Fund’ and the purpose of the funding provided is to enable target groups to access activities for which they would otherwise be excluded due to their inability to pay, whether that be fees, equipment or transport costs. Activities can include sports clubs, holiday play schemes, Cubs, Brownies and other similar activities. Families can even apply for vouchers to enable them to do something as a family e.g. a day trip to the zoo or swimming etc, during a difficult family time.

If you feel you would be eligible for this additional funding, please contact the main school office for an application form. A panel meets bi monthly. This comprises of the School’s Extended Schools Officer, professionals that work with vulnerable children and young people and a teacher representative and together they look at all the applications which are considered on individual merit.

For information, these funds are aimed at target groups which have been defined as:- Eligible for Free School Meals, Young Carers, Looked After Children, homeless families or overcrowded accommodation, economically disadvantaged because of SEN, families for whom English is an alternative language or traveller families, families experiencing difficult issues, and others as specified as the discretion of Headteachers and relevant agencies.
