Sbec Christmas Concert
Tuesday, 5th January, 2010
The evening of the 11th December saw SBEC get the festive season off to a fantastic start with their annual Christmas Carol Concert. Over 230 parents and friends packed the main hall of the college to listen to a mixture of readings, carols and music from a wide variety of styles, which demonstrated the wealth of talent that exists in the Performing Arts at SBEC.
The evening featured ensemble performances from the Stradbroke Pyramid Brass Band, the SBEC Brass Group, the Year 10 & 11 Vocal Group, the Year 10 GCSE Musicians, the Year 11 GCSE Musicians, the Orchestra and the massed voices of the Stradbroke Vocal Group. Superb individual performances came from Heidi Smith (Vocals), Casey Rawlings (Vocals), Stevie Cook (Cornet), Emily Self (Vocals & Guitar), and Florence Vane (Vocals & Guitar).
During the interval mulled wine and mince pies were served which enhanced the festive atmosphere. Members of the audience were even able to buy a last minute Christmas present as the Technology Department were selling homemade Christmas cakes made by the current enterprising Year 7.
The evening’s celebration ended with instrumentalists, vocalists and the audience joining together in a rousing rendition of ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’. Many thanks to all the pupils and staff who worked so hard to make the evening a resounding success, as well as to parents and friends for their fantastic support.
