Art & Design

Art and Design at Stradbroke Business & Enterprise College is taught in a new purpose built fantastic studio. All pupils study Art in Year 7, 8 and 9. They use a wide range of materials and techniques, including drawing, painting, ceramics, print, collage, textiles and sculpture. Pupils learn to think like artists, working creatively and intelligently.

As they move on into Year 10 GCSE Art and Design is an option for all pupils of all abilities. The GCSE course allows pupils to develop into independent artists exploring a range of themes, building their portfolios ready for their final exhibition and assessment.

Every year we hold our Summer Art Exhibition which features work from Stradbroke Business & Enterprise College pupils as well as our feeder Primary Schools.

Art plays an important part in the physical learning environment at Stradbroke Business & Enterprise College. Our corridors and Dining Hall provide exhibition space all year round. Do look out for the Year 7 staff portraits next time you visit us!

We are delighted with our 2009 GCSE examination results with 85% A* - C grades of which 52% were A* or A! This is a fantastic achievement and congratulation go to all of our ex Year 11 Artists! Well Done. So now the target and challenge is for our current Year 11 to beat that – maybe 90% in 2010?

Our Year 10 group of twenty nine pupils have settled in well to the new GCSE Art course, with five pupils also taking Art as a ‘lunchtime’ group – only because they could not fit in all the subjects they wanted to study at GCSE level!
